Starting up
Preference configuration
To access your preferences, click on your username in the top menu and select "Preferences". You'll want to set up a few options here including:
- If you want the wiki to refer to you using gender specific pronouns, you can choose between the "he/she edits wiki pages", under the "Internationalization" section
- If you want to receive mail when pages you follow are updated, you need to validate your email in the "Email options" section.
2 pages in you name
In your first uses of the wiki, you should learn to understand and use 2 pages: you Person page and you User page.
User page
User pages exist for each person with an account in the wiki. If you click on your name in the top menu and again on your name in the dropdown menu, you will be directed to your user page. If it hasn't been created yet, you can go ahead and click "Create with form" in the top menu and fill out the form.
Aside from helping to keep track of users in the wiki, the user page is the place where you manage your activity in the wiki: your Actions, Suggestions and Projects and their status are listed here. These lists are organised in such a fashion that you can change the status of their elements by clicking on the arraow symbols (↑, → et ↓) to transfer them from one list to another. The progression follows an inverted "U" shape, starting on the bottom left and ending on the bottom right.
You can also use your User page as a "sandbox": a place where you can add code to test the different functionalities such as semantic queries, and where you can take various notes throughout your usage. This is your space, you can have fun with it.
For an example of an amply filled user pagem you can have a look at Utilisateur:Guillaume Coulombe.
